In the past 12 months (August 2013 to July 2014), Hong Kong AIDS Foundation provided HIV voluntary counselling and testing for 531 MSM (men who have sex with men) service users.  It was the first time for a quarter of these service users, aged 31 or above, to receive an HIV testing.  The situation was unsatisfactory as it could harm their health for them to take their first HIV testing after years of sexual experience.  The Foundation will step up preventive education in particular the promotion of safer sex and HIV testing among young MSM and encourage those with sexual contact to go for early and regular testing with a view to lowering their age for the first HIV testing.

Following the trend of using smart phone by young people, the Foundation has set up a smart phone app “LINE” ID: man-d_testing and telephone hotline 2513 0513 for them to obtain information on HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases and make appointments for personal counselling and anonymous HIV and syphilis testing.
